How often should you be getting trims?

How often should you be getting trims?

Its time we talked about trims!! Let YouTube University tell it, you’re never supposed to get a trim, especially if your hair is natural. If you ask most licensed salon professionals, you should be trimming every 4-6 weeks, every 8 weeks if your prefer to wear your hair in its natural state.

If you hate the idea cutting your hair, I know you’re asking yourself. Why should you trim your hair so often?

Before I answer that, I want you to think about how often grass needs to be cut. On average most households cut their grass on some type of schedule; but for fun lets say every 2 weeks. If they don’t, their grass looks a little uneven by week 3. Once week 4 hits that grass is starting to look uneven, discolored, ROUGH, probably a little destroyed from footsteps, rain, basically natural causes!!! The moral is the longer that we wait to cut the grass the less desirable it looks or feels compared to freshly cut grass.

Now back to this trim?? It’s the exact same concept. On average our hair grows a half inch per month, and we should be getting trims basically every other months (4-8 weeks). EVEN if it’s a little bit. A little goes a long way, and the consistency within itself helps keep your hair looking and feeling healthy at all times.

My advice? Maintain your trims please!!! Your hair deserves better!!! 🧡 don’t get discouraged because your hair isn’t growing fast enough. Take a look at your hair care routine and see if you need to squeeze in a trim. It might just be time to let the dead ends go!
